Bobby Castillo

Career: Played with the Dodgers at the beginning and end of his nine-year big league career (1977-81,1985) and the Twins for a few years in between (1982-84).

Did you know? Originally drafted by Kansas City in 1974, but did not impress the Royal brass and was unceremoniously released ... switched positions in 1976, moving from the hot corner to the pitching mound, and made his big league debut the following season ... widely credited with teaching 19-year old Fernando Valenzuela how to throw his famous screwball pitch ... won a World Series title with the Dodgers in 1981 ... pitched mostly out of the bullpen during his time with the Dodgers and as a starter for the Twins.

Post-game: Was a longtime member of the Dodgers' community relations department, representing the team at numerous events at Dodger Stadium and throughout the city ... suffered a stroke in 2012 and died on June 30, 2014 at age 59 after a brief battle with cancer.
