Jim Gentile

Career: Played in the big leagues for parts of nine seasons with five different teams, including the Dodgers in 1957 and 1958.

Did you know? Hit a home run in his first big league start, a solo-shot off future Hall of Famer Robin Roberts of the Phillies on September 22, 1957 ... belted a record (since broken) five grand slams in 1961, including a record two in the same game against the Twins on May 9.

Post-game: Played in Japan for a year, worked in the automotive service industry for many years, managed and coached in the independent leagues after the turn of the century, and thereafter ran his own baseball camp ... was inducted into the Orioles HOF in 1989.
