Doc Bushong

Career: Played in the big leagues for parts of 13 seasons with six teams, including Brooklyn from 1888 to 1890.

Did you know? Was the first big league backstop to catch 100 regular season games, accomplishing the feat with the original St. Louis Browns in 1886 ... pioneered the practice of one-handed catching in 1886, using an over-sized padded glove on his non-throwing hand to preserve his hand for dentistry.

Post-game:  Owned and operated a dental practice with two of his his brothers in Brooklyn, NY ... died of cancer at the age of 51 on August 19, 1908.
