Bob Caruthers

Career: Played in the big leagues for parts of nine seasons with the original St. Louis Browns (1884-87, 1892) and Brooklyn (1888-91).

Did you know? Led the league in winning percentage three times and ranks second all-time in that category among pitchers with 200 or more wins ... was a two-time 40-game winner ... an excellent two-way player, who appeared in more career games as a hitter (365) than as a pitcher (340).

Post-game: Managed in the minor leagues and then umpired in the major and minor leagues ... died at age 47 on August 11, 1911 shortly after suffering a nervous breakdown.
