Ray Moss

Career: 
Played in the big leagues for parts of six seasons with the Brooklyn Dodgers and Boston Braves (1926-31).

Did you know? Hurled back-to-back shutouts for Brooklyn, beating the Cardinals, 4-0, and Reds, 8-0, on August 20 and 24, 1929 ... his son Ray Jr. played center and linebacker at the University of Tennessee and was drafted by the Buffalo Bills.

Post-game: Owned and operated Ray Moss Dairy Farms, which later became the Golden Gallon Company, a chain of convenience stores in Chattanooga, TN ... received his first pension check from major league baseball in 1997, 66 years after pitching in a big league game ... died on August 9, 1998 at age 96.
