Adonis Terry

Career: Played in the big leagues for parts of 14 seasons with four teams, including Brooklyn from 1884 to 1891.

Did you know? Was the starting right fielder in Brooklyn's first-ever regular season game, a 12-0 loss to the Washington Nationals on May 1, 1884, and notched the team's first victory, a 7-5 decision, the following day ... hurled two no-hitters, the first on July 24, 1886 against the St. Louis Browns and the second on May 27, 1886 against the Louisville Colonels ... posted the only 20 win, 30 steal season in major league history in 1890, when he notched 26 victories and stole 32 bases ... appeared in 440 games as a pitcher and 238 as a hitter, mostly in the outfield.

Post-game: Worked briefly as a major league umpire and owned and operated a bowling alley in Milwaukee, WI ... died of pneumonia at the age of 50 on February 24, 2015 ... was inducted into the Western Massachusetts Baseball HOF in 2021.
