Glen Mickens

Career: Played with the Dodgers for part of the 1953 season.

Did you know? Served in the US Army during the Korean War and missed the entire 1952 season ... was the first American-born pitcher to start and register a victory in a Japanese All-Star Game, 7/27/1960 ... compiled a pedestrian record of 45-51 despite a sparkling 2.55 ERA in five seasons in Japan (1959-63).

Post-game: Served as an assistant coach at UCLA for more than a quarter of a century, retiring in 1989 ... died of pneumonia at the age of 88 on July 9, 2019.
