Jack Burdock

Career: Played the final two seasons of his 18-year big league career with Brooklyn, appearing in 70 games in 1888 and three games in 1891.

Did you know? Led the NL in fielding percentage at second base six times, putouts five times, range factor twice, and double plays and assists once each ... was the player-manager for the 1883 pennant-winning Boston Beaneaters, leading the team with a .330 average.

Post-game: Worked as painter, attendant at the Polo Grounds and later at the ball fields at Brooklyn's Prospect Park, as a night watchman in New York's Park Row, and in his later years as an inspector for the office of Corporation Counsel ... died at the age of 79 on November 27, 1931.
