Karl Spooner

Career: 
Played in the big leagues for parts of two seasons with the Dodgers in 1954 and 1955.

Did you know? Hurled shutouts in first two big league starts, fanning a record 15 batters in debut and an even dozen four days later, September 22 and 26, 1954 ... injured his arm the following spring, but was able to help Brooklyn win its lone World Series title in 1955 ... his daughter Kelley is a longtime professional golfer and a two-time LPGA Western Section Professional Player of the Year.

Post-game: Worked as a bartender and later as a packinghouse manager for a citrus company in Vero Beach, FL ... died of liver cancer  on April 10, 1984 at age 52 ... was inducted into the Greater Utica Sports HOF in 2007.
