Bob Bailey

Career: Played in the big leagues for parts of 17 seasons with five different teams, including the Dodgers in 1967 and 1968.

Did you know? Dubbed the "Babe Ruth of Long Beach" after batting .500, .442 and .475 in three seasons at Wilson High, and  was twice named Long Beach Player of the Year ... signed as an amateur by the Pirates for a reported bonus of $175,000 in 1961 ... was acquired by the Dodgers with Gene Michael for Maury Wills on December 1, 1966 ... collected the first hit and RBI in Expos franchise history on April 8, 1969 ... won a World Series title with the Reds in 1976.

Post-game: Managed and coached in the minors through 1987, and thereafter operated a timeshare business ... was inducted into the Long Beach Century Club HOF and the Long Beach Wilson Athletic HOF ... died on January 9, 2018 at the age of 75.
