Career:
 Played in the big leagues for parts of four seasons with the Dodgers and Athletics, from 1976 to 1979.

Did you know? Widely credited with having invented the celebratory "high five" hand slap after Dusty Baker belted his 30th home run on the final day of the 1977 regular season.

Post game: In 1982, two years after playing career was over, became first player to publicly acknowledge he was gay ... died of complications due to AIDS on May 30, 1995 at the age of 42 ... was inducted into the Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.
