Ed Stein

Career: Played in the big leagues for parts of eight seasons with Chicago (1890-91) and Brooklyn (1892-96 and 1898).

Did you know? Pitched a rain-shortened, 1-0, six-inning no-hitter against Chicago at Brooklyn's Eastern Park on June 2, 1894 ... in 1892, posted career-best numbers in wins (27), earned run average (2.84), innings pitched (377.1), strikeouts (190), complete games (38) and shutouts (6).

Post-game: Served as a deputy sheriff, was appointed chief deputy sheriff, and thereafter was elected county treasurer and later county sheriff ... died at age 58 on May 10, 1928.
