Bert Inks

Career: Played in the big leagues for parts of five seasons with six teams, including Brooklyn in 1891 and 1892.

Did you know?  Played college baseball at Notre Dame ... got the Opening Day start for Louisville against the Pirates on April 18, 1895 and picked up the win while striking out 10 ... had two 20-game win seasons in the minors and one 20-loss season in the majors ... compiled a career major league batting average of .300, collecting 75 hits in 300 at bats ... his older brother Will pitched in the minor leagues for parts of three seasons.

Post-game: Was the pitching coach at Wabash College in 1905, managed the Ligonier team in the Michigan-Indiana League in 1910, and built, owned and managed the Crystal Theater in his hometown of Ligonier, IN for 34 years ... died at age 70 on October 3, 1941.
