Tommy Corcoran

Career: Played in the big leagues for parts of 18 seasons with five teams, including Brooklyn from 1892 to 1896.

Did you know? Set a major league record for most assists by a shortstop in in a nine-inning game with 14 on August 7, 1903 ... led shortstops in fielding percentage four times, in double plays and assists twice, and putouts once ... was captain of the Cincinnati Redlegs for 10 seasons, from 1897 to 1906 ... his brother Phil pitched in the minor leagues for 11 seasons.

Post-game: Managed in the minor leagues, worked as an umpire in the Federal League and several minor leagues, owned and operated a hotel, and thereafter retired to his Connecticut farm where he bred fox hounds ... died at age 91 on June 25, 1960.
