Dan Daub

Career: Played in the big leagues for parts of six seasons with Cincinnati (1892) and Brooklyn (1893-97).

Did you know? Nicknamed "Deacon" because of his clerical appearance and demeanor ... was a three-sport star at Dennison University, playing baseball, football and track ... was the coach at Ohio Wesleyan University in 1902, where his star player was Branch Rickey.

Post-game: Coached college baseball, umpired in the minor leagues and in the semi-pro ranks, worked as a machine operator at a paper mill and thereafter for a cash register manufacturing company, rising to the rank of superintendent ... died on March 25, 1951 at age 83.
