Career: Played in the big leagues for parts of 12 seasons with five different teams, including the Dodgers at the beginning of his career from 1955 to 1961.

Did you know? Lost 20 games for the Mets in consecutive seasons (1962-63).

Post-game: Served as a big league scout, minor league and major league manager, and was a longtime big league pitching coach for several organizations ... was inducted into the North Carolina Sports HOF in 1985.
