Did you know? Struck out 31 batters in a 14-inning American Legion state playoff game against Nanitoke on August 20, 1949 ... served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict ... traded to the Dodgers along with Rip Repulski and Jim Golden for Sparky Anderson.

Post-game: Worked as a salesman for Edgecomb Metals in York, Pennsylvania for 29 years, and worked part-time for Schaeffer Florist  ... served as Central League president (1978-84 and 1987) ... died on June 2, 1996, at age 65, one month after suffering a heart attack.
